This Ford F150 had a low oil pressure light coming on, only at low idle in gear. Removing the oil pressure sensor and performing a manual oil pressure check (with an external gauge) showed that the pressure was indeed low and out of specs. This indicated a stopped up oil strainer which was verified after the removal of the oil pan. We replaced the strainer due its design which prevents a thorough cleaning. Oil pressure was restored immediately.
